SUNNY LUKE AS AN INTERNATIONAL EDUCATOR IN CREATING SHORT TERMS STUDY PROGRAMS FOR US UNIVERSITIES IN INDIA

Semester India & Faculty – Led programs Since 1999

Prof. Sunny Luke, through his nonprofit education organization IISAC (www.iisac.org) in the USA, introduced the first Semester India program with Pondicherry University in 1999. At that time, it was a novel idea for Indian universities to host U.S. students for a semester, where they could study 4 to 5 liberal arts courses and transfer the credits back to their home universities in the USA. Later, this program was expanded to KIIT University in Odisha and the University of Kerala.

More than 40 U.S. universities participated in this program under the able leadership of Dr. Sunny Luke. Additionally, he developed faculty-led programs for U.S. university professors, allowing them to bring their students from specific majors to conduct field studies in Kerala for 4 to 6 weeks during the U.S. summer vacation. He also developed activity-based programs for undergraduate students in biological sciences, environmental sciences, social sciences, and public health in Kerala.
